Marcos Félix is from Brasília, Distrito Federal. He holds a degree in Art Education, with a specialization in Music, from the University of Brasília - UnB. He began exploring textile arts in 2017 and, since then, has specialized in several techniques, creating his own style.
His creative process connects different types of materials, color schemes and artistic movements. The works are three-dimensional, guiding the viewer's gaze, who often cannot tell where the lines begin and end. Textile arts are intricate and vibrant in their beauty and meaning. Each thread, carefully intertwined, forms a unique pattern, reflecting the complexity and harmony of the universe. The line transforms into a work that captures the essence of an ancient practice of meditation and contemplation.

How did your journey into the art world begin?

My interest in art began in art classes at school. Later, I became interested in music when I attended a piano recital when I was 12. I was enchanted by what I saw and, that same year, I started taking piano and music theory lessons. My interest in visual arts was also always present, but it intensified in 2017, when I started developing textile art work, combining different techniques and creating my own.
In 2017, I was invited to participate in a textile art workshop in Brasília. I found the technique very complex and thought it might not be ideal for me, but my interest and fascination grew. I started researching and taking other courses, until I arrived at a style that I consider my own.

How would you describe your artistic style?

Textile art. I want to convey an enchantment, a surprise in not knowing where the piece begins and ends. I want the observer to try to follow the path that the lines make and, in some way, feel captured by the piece.

What is your creative process like?

Initially, I research references for colors, palettes, combinations, materials, and shapes, and then I build the pieces. I rarely know how the piece will look in the end. The process is usually full of surprises and discoveries. I also often need to undo some parts, replace some colors, and change some shapes. Whenever possible, I try to bring music into the works, taking inspiration from elements present in the songs.

What materials and techniques do you use most often?

The basic technique of my art consists of weaving threads over fixed structures (wood, acrylic, stainless steel, etc.), in different colors and geometric shapes, using different types of threads (wool, acrylic and different threads).

What is the meaning of art in your life?

Art is the expression of my purpose. It is my way of sharing my experiences, ideas and deepest realizations with those who are open to receive them. And the difference that art can make in the world is precisely to show everyone things that are more beautiful, more authentic and more human.
