With a degree in Philosophy from the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) and the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), my career combines philosophical thought with artistic and literary practice. I taught at the Dulcina de Morais School of Arts, where I explored the relationships between aesthetics, language and creation. As a poet and visual artist, my works stand out for their fusion of philosophical reflection and sensorial expressions, seeking to question and expand the limits of contemporary art. This integration between thought and form has been presented in several exhibitions, which reveal a constant investigation into the grotesque, the sublime and transcendence in everyday life.

How did your journey into the art world begin?

My journey into the world of art began in childhood, when I lived with my grandfather and great-grandfather, who were locksmiths and carpenters. At the age of six or seven, I already had a glimpse of manual work, learning how to make hammers out of iron and wood. The second milestone came between the ages of eight and nine, when I was with a cousin who was a writer and who read excerpts from Van Gogh's letters. Impressed, I began copying his drawings and paintings until I was 12. At 15, I painted my first canvas, a landscape with already abstract features.

Throughout my adolescence, I was deeply influenced by Miró, Gauguin and Cézanne, and by the history of art, which helped me build a solid artistic culture. My passions for arte povera, materiality and minimalism shaped my artistic expression, leading me to create works that balance the sublime and the grotesque. By the age of 18, I was already developing significant paintings and sculpture projects. Since then, I have continued to explore the multiple dimensions of art, on a path of incessant creation and reflection.

What is your creative process like?

My creative process as a visual artist is deeply intuitive and focused on materiality. It begins with a vision or impulse, often inspired by personal experiences, philosophical readings, and reflections on the grotesque and the sublime. I value manual work and experimentation with materials such as wood, iron, pigments, and textures, rejecting digital manipulations and preferring direct contact with the material.

I often start with small works or models, which I photograph and amplify, exploring new meanings and dimensions. Depending on the emotional moment, I add layers of paint to create volume or opt for fine art printing, allowing each piece to have its own narrative.

My creation is not only aesthetic; it is questioning, seeking to reflect on time, existence, and space. I move between the artisanal and the contemporary, reinterpreting traditional techniques with an innovative perspective. The simplicity of raw materials contrasts with the complexity of forms, creating works that invite contemplation and critical thinking.

This balance between intuition, technique and reflection gives rise to work that not only has a visual impact, but also provokes deep dialogues, connecting with the sensory and transcending the limits of conventional art.

What is the meaning of art in your life?

In my life, art is more than expression: it is existence. It is the means by which I transcend the everyday, question the world and create new realities. It unites my philosophy, poetry and visual art, translating what cannot be expressed in words and what does not fit into defined forms. Art is my connection with the sensorial, the grotesque and the sublime, revealing my essence and my creative freedom. It is, above all, my way of fully existing.

What is the role of the artist in today's society?

The role of the artist in today's society is to create works that transcend aesthetics and provoke transformation. For me, art is visceral, impactful, and carries with it all aspects of reality. I work with materials such as wood, iron, and pigments, creating objects, sculptures, and paintings that not only represent, but also engage with the world in an autonomous way.

I believe that a work of art has a life of its own. It does not depend on the artist's discourse to exist or communicate; on the contrary, the work is capable of speaking for itself, establishing a direct dialogue with the viewer. It is an osmosis between creator and creation, where art carries the essence of the artist, but also its own force of expression.

In this moment of growing autonomy for art, I see my role as a mediator between matter and meaning, between sensory experience and reflection. Art has the power to impact, instigate, and transform. This is my commitment: to create works that are bridges between life and transcendence, capable of provoking changes in the way we see reality.
