Amanda Colangelo was born in São Paulo in 1995. She lives and works in São Paulo.
She began her journey in Ebru art in 2019. She learned this technique from a Turkish artist who was living in Brazil at the time. She has a degree in Fashion and has worked as a fashion designer. Today, she works as an independent artist.
In her research, she explores organic forms, evoking nature and the imperfect beauty of the natural world. The sinuous lines and irregular stains are reminiscent of dreamlike landscapes, where reality blends with imagination. By exploring the fluid nature of water and pigments, she creates works in Ebru that invite the viewer to a unique emotional experience.
Her art is an authentic expression of her vision of the world and her personal experiences. The Ebru technique, with its ability to generate unique images, is the perfect vehicle for conveying the complexity and beauty of the human soul.

How did your journey into the art world begin?
Since I was a child, I have been fascinated by art. I loved drawing the world around me. I couldn't stand the sight of a piece of paper and a pencil in front of me. Over the years, I experimented and learned techniques, from graphite to watercolor, until I discovered Turkish Ebru art, which made me feel something I had never felt before, a connection so deep with myself and with art. Through it, I was able to express my feelings and my vision of the world.

What themes do you prefer to explore in your works?
I explore the notion of harmony in adversity, the paintings reveal a dynamic balance between chaos and order. Imperfections, previously seen as flaws, become essential elements of the composition, enriching the work and giving it a unique depth. This approach resonates with the human experience, marked by internal conflicts and the constant search for a sense of unity.
I invite the viewer to reflect on their own condition, inviting them to appreciate the beauty that resides in their own imperfections. By recognizing the fragility and complexity of existence, we find a new way of connecting with the world and with ourselves.
What is your creative process like?
My creative process is intuitive, I channel my feelings and transform them into art. This process starts from the desire to connect with myself and the world around me.
What are your sources of inspiration?
My inspiration comes from within, from understanding the human mind and bringing clarity to feelings, even the most difficult ones. Other important sources of inspiration are the works of Fidevs Çalkanoglu, Bruno Militelli, Yayoi Kusama, Jackson Pollock.

What materials and techniques do you use most often?
I use traditional Ebru art materials, natural elements from flowers and earth.
What is the meaning of art in your life?
The closer I get to art, the closer I get to myself. It's a way I found to connect with myself and express what I feel and think. A path I found to understand my feelings, and since Ebru art is a technique in which pigments and the environment directly affect the work, I don't have total control over the result, which makes me accept and let go of having control over situations and perfection, makes me trust the process and myself.
